چکیده

Laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) is one of the most promising additive manufacturing (AM) methods which provides an exceptional opportunity to improve existing designs and move toward fabricating fine features complex geometries with higher efficiencies. Considering layer-wise nature this technique, possibility tied ability deposit thin layers in process. Since layer thickness directly dictated by particle size, finer powders are required further enhance L-PBF technique intricate geometries. Accordingly, study aims at investigating processability AlSi10Mg (D50 = 9 µm) using The densification level, surface quality dimensional accuracy final parts investigated a wide range process parameters compared those manufactured commonly used (referred as coarse D50 40 µm). underlying reasons behind different explored from density, quality, microhardness viewpoints through analyzing flowability, packing density optical absorption powders. Moreover, process-microstructure-microhardness relationship assessed detail for both This reinforces idea that utilization processing rather challenging.

The Role of Particle Size on the Laser Sintering of Iron Powder

The effects of powder particle size on the densification and microstructure of iron powder in the direct laser sintering process were investigated. Iron powders with particle sizes ranging from 10 to 200 m were used. It was found that the sintered density increases as the laser energy input is increased. There is, however, a saturation level at which higher density cannot be obtained even at ve...

Fabrication and Characterization of a Low Magnetic Zr-1Mo Alloy by Powder Bed Fusion Using a Fiber Laser

A low magnetic Zr-1Mo alloy was fabricated by a powder bed fusion (PBF) process using a fiber laser. The microstructure, surface morphology, and pore distribution of the as-built Zr-1Mo alloy were observed. Its magnetic susceptibility and Vickers hardness were evaluated by magnetic susceptibility balance and a microindentation tester, respectively. The as-built Zr-1Mo alloy mainly consisted of ...

Some aspects on designing for metal Powder Bed Fusion

Additive Manufacturing (AM) using the Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) is a relatively new manufacturing method that is capable of creating shapes that was previously practically impossible to manufacture. Many think it will revolutionize how manufacturing will be done in the future. This thesis is about some aspects of when and how to Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) when using the PBF method i...

Processability of high strength Aluminium-Copper alloys AW-2022 and 2024 by Laser Beam Melting in Powder Bed

Additive Manufacturing offers geometric freedom excellently suited for topology optimized light weight designs. Ideally these should be produced from materials of high strength to weight ratio such as aluminium-copper alloys. Yet these are considered unsuitable for welding. With Laser Beam Melting of Metals in powder bed (LBM), the only class of aluminium alloys widely processed is that of alum...
